Dh has taken leave for a couple of weeks so last weekend we finally made the trip down to NC to visit his family. It had been several months since we’d been to Mamaw and Papaw’s house in Asheboro and the kids were thrilled. We went out for a steakhouse dinner Friday night, then crashed [...]

Yesterday we took a field trip to Bluebird Gap Farm. It was a gorgeous day and we had a great time. It was our first visit and the kids loved getting an up close look at the animals. We saw geese, ducks, a bobcat, deer, cows, horses, goats, chickens, turkeys and peacocks. The most interesting, [...]

For Mother’s Day we drove up to Colonial Williamsburg. We all love it there and visit several times a year. The weather was overcast and a little drizzly so I only took a few photos. We had a nice lunch though, at The Cheese Shop, and made the obligatory stop at the Wythe Candy Shop-yum. [...]

Last night we headed downtown for dinner at a sidewalk cafe and a riverboat ferry ride. It was a beautiful evening, breezy and mild. We had a great time and the kids loved the ferry trip across the river. We caught an opening of the bridge that connects Portsmouth to Norfolk…a road we travel frequently. [...]

We live in a very historically rich area in Virginia, and there is no shortage of historic sites to visit. We’re minutes away from the Historic Triangle, which includes Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. We love these sites and I highly recommend them if you ever have the opportunity to visit.
We recently took a [...]
